Q. Who are you?
A. My name is Angie Mausolf. I've been in the art business for about 5 years, currently working out of Warren MI. I'm a mixed media artist and work in a variety of media including acrylic painting and digital art and graphic design. I have worked with galleries and art organizations in Port Huron, Royal Oak, Warren, and several in Detroit.
Q. Why are you doing this?
A. My vision for this project is twofold. First of all, it is an opportunity for artists, young and old, urban and rural, to gain exposure and be able to display their work. It can be difficult for emerging artists to start getting their work out there, and this book exhibition is fairly unlimited in time and distance. Once published, an artist can share their contribution to this collaberation with collectors, friends, family, and colleagues, in spite of busy schedules or geographic separation. Participating in this project could lead to numerous sales, commissions, and networking opportunities for the artists. The second part of my mission for this book is to showcase the diversity of talent and creativity we have here in the Great Lakes State. Michigan and Detroit have gotten somewhat of a bad rap in the media lately, and it doesn't give the whole picture of everything we have to offer here. There are so many creative people here, and original ideas, and this book will show more the good and positive things, the landscapes, the culture, the innovative spirit, as expressed through painting, photography, sculpture, etc. While visiting local art fairs and galleries, I am consistently amazed and impressed with Michigan artists and want to share that experience with others.
